All my stuff is on 5.x.x. Since I don’t plan on running DMX or any of the other fancy things, I don’t think there’s a need for me to update to anything newer. Yes/No?
For just straight firing cues (e.g., regular scripting, no DMX, no SMTPE, etc), is there something offered in the newer firmwares that are a must have relative to 5.x.x or that fix a glaring bug in 5.x.x?
I’m currently running 6.0., it has been stable. I’ll need to upgrade to 6.1. in order to use Control Panel v2. I plan to do this a PGI since it’s the only place I shoot over 1500 cues, and Control Panel v1 doesn’t work with large shows. It was quite a pain last year when I shot the MUM Pyro Class display, counting mod’s & testing signal manually on 126 mod.'s was quite a pain.
What is this “CP v2” that you speak of???
Scott Smith told me last year at PGI they were finishing a complete re-write of Control Panel (one of the fixes was to eliminate the large display script reading issue). I wasn’t there but they referenced its upcoming release at CobraCon 2024.

SO, regarding CPv2 I just loaded a 3844 cue script into 18R2 running 7.0 (should get same results with 6.1) and connected to tablet with CPv2 running…< 10seconds and entire script loaded into tablet. I’ll be running 6.1 for two shows then bumping some mods and one remote to 7.0 for a really large show for disable groups on very specific product. Tested that on a few dry runs and it works nicely
3844 cues???
What make/model of tablet are you running? That seems to be one of the popular questions right now permeating FB.
Galaxy TAB S7 128GB (SM-T870) I got off ebay used.
The “show” was a test script just to see how it did with something that big. I do have an ~2800 cue show I’m working on for the 6th and wanted to get a feel for just how fast v2 is.
